Foreign Media has chose Own Strong Candidate for Different Reasons
On Nov. 23, about a day after Gensler announced his resignation as chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC), the cryptocurrency community is paying attention to the next SEC chairman.
During his term in office, Gensler continued to enforce regulations on a number of cryptocurrency companies in the U.S. amid claims that "most cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin (BTC) are securities." A number of cryptocurrency companies in the U.S. in the U.S. have been severely leaving the U.S. market, calling for "lack of regulatory clarity" due to Gensler's stubborn and strict enforcement of regulations.
As such, the cryptocurrency community in the United States is showing great interest in the next chairman who will replace Gensler and 'save' the cryptocurrency market.
Foreign media are pouring out articles about the candidate for the next SEC chairman every day through information from their own sources.
Block Street has compiled and organized information on the next SEC chairman, which has been poured out from a number of foreign media.
# "The Strongest Candidate is the One in Crypto industry"
Robinhood's legal director Dan Gallagher is considered the top candidate for Trump to replace Gary Gensler.
In an interview with Politico on the 7th, the former SEC commissioner, who asked not to be named, left a comment that Gallagher would become the new SEC chairman in the Trump administration.
Gallagher served as a member of the SEC from 2011 to 2015 and has been a legal general of Robinhood, a U.S. stock and cryptocurrency trading platform, in 2020. It is argued that Gallagher will return to the SEC under the Trump administration.
President-elect Trump has been making promises to grow the cryptocurrency industry since the beginning of his presidential campaign. As such, General Manager Gallagher has experienced the current cryptocurrency industry and is a strong person who can continue the SEC's "pro-cryptocurrency stance" that the Trump administration wants.
Another person mentioned as a replacement for Gensler is former Binance US CEO Brian Brooks.
Brooks worked for the U.S. Monetary Authority(OCC) during the first Trump administration and pushed for the introduction of the bank's blockchain experiment and the introduction of cryptocurrency regulations during the working period.
In a recent interview with foreign media, he said, "If he is appointed as the next SEC chairman, he will develop the cryptocurrency industry and improve regulatory clarity based on his career in the cryptocurrency market."
# "Inside SEC"
A number of foreign media outlets, including The Washington Post, reported that Trump will find people inside the SEC who have made advocacy moves for cryptocurrencies. Those mentioned are Mark Uyeda and SEC commissioner Hester Pierce.
Commissioner Uyeda is a representative pro-crypto figure in the SEC.
In a recent interview with Brave New Coin, a media outlet specializing in cryptocurrency, Uyeda said, "We will end regulatory enforcement based on clear regulatory proposals and help fulfill Trump's promises."
In particular, based on Uyeda's interview, a number of foreign media outlets have published a graphic that combines photos of Uyeda and Trump, speculating that Uyeda is the next SEC chairman predicted by Trump.
Commissioner Hester Pierce is called "Crypto Mom" as the most cryptocurrency-friendly figure within the SEC.
Commissioner Pierce has criticized Gensler's move in multiple media interviews, while publicly suggesting that the SEC's internal personnel are currently divided.
In particular, Pierce has insisted on regulatory enforcement and market order through clear regulation, not establishing order by regulatory enforcement several times. Based on Pierce's appearance, a number of media outlets are pointing to Pierce as the likely next SEC chairman. Based on Pierce's actions and status, the Washington Post said, "He may lead a federal task force on cryptocurrency policy."
