1. Ripple Jumps 8% on Launch of RLUSD
Ripple(XRP) surged about 8% on the news of the launch of RLUSD, a stablecoin based on XRPL, on Dec. 17. RLUSD won official approval from the New York Financial Services Administration(NYDFS) on Dec. 10, and will be officially distributed through a number of exchanges on Dec. 17. Exchanges that announced the official listing of RLUSD on Dec. 17 include ▲Uphold ▲ Moonpay ▲ Acex ▲ Coinmena.
2. Matrixport "Ethereum to Rise in 2025 Following Institutional Sales"
Matrixport, an on-chain analysis platform, pointed out the poor performance of Ethereum(ETH) amid the strong cryptocurrency market in 2024, claiming on Dec. 16 that Ethereum will recover its dominance next year and show a price increase. Matrixport predicted in its own report that although a number of altcoins broke through the high point in the bull market in 2024, Ethereum's performance was somewhat low and Ethereum will be strong next year as institutional investors are currently buying Ethereum.
3. Justin Sun Announces Around 53,000 Ethereum Collection
Justin Suntron, founder of the company, has sold about 53,000 Ethereum units through Lido Finance on Dec. 16. Spot-on-Chain, an on-chain analysis platform, announced on Dec. 16 that Justin Sun has applied for about 52,905 withdrawals of Ethereum through Lido Finance and has started to buy the withdrawn Ethereum. Justin Sun has made two large-scale purchases of Ethereum in February and August this year, and has bought about 392,474 Ethereum units.
4. El Salvador Grants License To Provide Bitcoin-Related Services To Bitget
On Dec. 16, the El Salvador government authorized Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, to provide various services related to Bitcoin(BTC) in the country.
5. FTX To Begin Debt Repayment Through Bitgo And Kraken On Jan. 3, 2025
FTX Exchange, which went bankrupt in November 2022, announced on Dec. 16 that it will start repaying debts under Article 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Act from January 3 next year. FTX said in an official statement that it will designate Bitgo and Kraken as exchanges that help repay debts, and that it will start repaying debts through Bitgo and Kraken only for creditors who have entered the customer knowledge system(KYC) and debt facts.
